The chess game continues!
In what I though was the setting up of a Stephen Bradbury moment for Sarah yesterday, Mike and Kristoff proceeded to smash each other with blunt instrument and pushed even harder than they had already been doing for the past 12 days. For those unaware of Stephen Bradbury, he is best known for winning the 1,000 m event at the 2002 Winter Olympics after all of his opponents were involved in a last corner pile-up. He was the first Australian to win a Winter Olympic gold medal. S

I'm just waiting for a mate - Day 11
In scenes reminiscent of this famous viral video. Crazed cycling fans all across the race route have been lurking on street corners 'just waiting for a mate'. Probably making Police officers curious as to what these lycra clad individuals are doing on random street corners at 1am. Riders have had fans jumping out of bushes to greet them and Jackie even had a Kangaroo come out to greet her (sub optimal) Lucky Jackie is about the toughest person I know and will bounce back (pa

The Belgian freight train rolls into Melbourne
I rolled down Moonee Ponds creek this morning in the hope of catching a Kristof. Everything went to plan and he rolled through Docklands soon after I arrived. He had a solid peleton of people wanting to catch a glimpse of the peadlling machine, it truly was incredible with office workers cheering him from Docklands all the way to Fed square and then others yelling from Bridges as we rolled up the Yarra. It's been very windy for his push to Melbourne so he looked a little tire

Hot Hot Hot!
No i'm not talking about the pace up front, although it is, but rather conditions for the mid fielders as conditions hit 35 in the shade over most of central South Australia! Andy Buchs from Switzerland was finding it a little hot on the Eyre peninsula, whilst Nick Skarajew got his water resupply a little wrong and was gifted a fill up from some trail angels! Ben seems to be cleaning out service stations in the mid north as he heads toward Adelaide. Ryan Flinn seems to have

The Indypacpcsurvey draws first blood!
With the front runners blasting through Adelaide it's finally time for some of you dot stalkers to get your fix and actually stalk the competitors IRL!. Here'sa few highlights! Kai Edal got a bit of attention from his mates on the way up Greenhill road and looks to be in good spirits! Kim Raeymaekers was spotted on the Torrens bike path sporting some tough as nuts socks. It seems just holding the wheel of these superstars to get a photo is a task in itself. Adam Hunter from C

One week deep!
The fatigue has reached tipping point and from where we stand it is all downhill from here. Woah woah just back it up a minute! After just over 2800 km for the front runners the hills have only just begun, Mike and Kristoff have just knocked off the Greenhill rd Lofty summit double, the biggest climb in the Adelaide Hills in just under 50 mins going off their tracker pins. It's a solid climb i used to do at least once a week as a teenager and I can tell you 50 min is pinning

Day Six and the winds keep on blowing!
Yet again riders are strewn across the Nullarbor continuing to battling winds and rain for those in the west. For some respite has come as they reached Ceduna the first city since Norseman some 1200km behind. Mike Hall seems to be slipping into tourist mode but not slowing down at all, I think he even took time out to read last nights blog post and make sure we could share this image tonight, cheers Mike! Food seems to have been the theme amongst the racers today with some i

Hey South Australia, turn your fans down!
It looks like it's been a tough day out there for the racers. In what I will make a brief segway into alternative facts, it appears the South Australian government's new found love for renewable energy has seriously affected the Indy Pac peleton. All day the Power generating fans have been blowing the riders to a crawl! I've received numerous correspondence from riders about the brutal headwinds including this beauty from Gareth Pellas: Even Kristof Allegaert seemed a little

Day Four-The Trans Nullarbor express
On day four we see the field strung out from Norseman to Ceduna a distance of 1200km. It's kind of like this Kraftwerk song but downunder. Play the song while you are reading and hum along, music plays a big part in keeping everybody sane out there. You will notice from lots of the photo's riders are wearing headphones. Kristoff rolled into Penong with earbud in, Jackie joked about the scenes in Rocky where Eye of the Tiger is playing and had a sing along with the film crew.

The cracks are starting to form but the riders keep rolling (Day 3)
Day three of any long tour is always a bit of a breaking point. The fight or flight that drives us all begins to kick into overdrive and the questions of why you began this folly play with the mind. When the road continues relentlessly beyond the horizon those feelings intensify. Jackie Bernardi casts a long shadow on the 90 mile straight! A tribal elder of the Adnyamathanha tribe from the Northern Flinders once told me if you eat the heart of a Kangaroo you can run for 4 day
